ROSEVILLE, CA (12-31-09) - As a New Year is upon us, Handy Racing Promotions Incorporated would like to thank everyone for their support of the 2009 Hoosier Racing Tires California Sprint Car Civil War Race Series. It is the hard work and dedication of many that made the latest chapter in the history of this great series a true success.
In 2009, more than 115 different drivers competed in various events in the traveling Civil War Series. The campaign consisted of 14 total events at six different California race tracks. Eight different drivers hoisted feature event trophies during the past season and one driver repeated in the form of a championship in grand fashion. Sacramento's Sean Becker dominated the victory column to win his second straight Civil War Championship title. Prior to spending the last two seasons focused on the Civil War Series, Becker had already claimed titles in the Golden State Challenge Series and at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. After winning five feature events in the 2009 campaign aboard the Scott Miller owned @2sb, Becker claimed the title with an impressive 95 point margin when the season came to a close in September. As Becker became one of the elite competitors to claim multiple championships in this competitive series, he also became the first driver to earn a championship ring along with his dedicated car owner Scott Miller. For many years, veteran race official and former driver Mike Andreeta has teamed with Jerry Robinson, Art Boune and Jamie Riolo to present the champions of the well known Golden State Challenge Series with a title ring. This year the fab four teamed together to begin doing the same for the Civil War champions as well. The effort is great appreciated by everyone and will make winning this title even more special then it already has been through the decades. As we ring in the new year in just a few days we wish to thank each and everyone one of the participating track promoters from the past season, to the many officials who worked with our series officials throughout the year and all of our contingency sponsors, weekly sponsors and our title sponsor, Hoosier Racing Tires West. We appreciate your hard work and contributions to making this traveling series a true success and look forward to working with all of you in the year to come. Lastly, we pay tribute to each and every driver, team member and race fan that patronized these events in 2009. It is your dedication and support that insures the continuation and growth of our sport in the years to come. Thank you, all of you for what you have done. In 2010 the Civil War Series will consist of 15 events at six different tracks. A tentative schedule as been posted to this website and will be finalized in the coming weeks. We look forward to seeing you in the race season to come. Happy New Year from everyone at Handy Racing Promotions and the California Sprint Car Civil War Race Series.
