PLACERVILLE, CA (6-18-11) - The Winged Warriors of the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series made their annual solo appearance in the hills of Quincy this past weekend at the scenic American Valley Speedway. When the checkered flag waved at the conclusion of the "Rumble in the Jungle," five time champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn became the winningest driver of the 2011 series with his third feature event victory.

A total of 31 cars travelled to Quincy for round six of the Civil War Series that consists of 14 events at six of California's best known race tracks. The hosts of this tour span Northern California from the Sierra Foothills to the Wine Country and the Coastal Region. Saturday's event and every regular Civil War Series event pays $2000 to the winner and $300 to start the 22 car A-feature.

Overall, this series will compete for more than $250,000 over the year and an outstanding championship fund of $40,000 in championship funds is in place with $10,000 of that amount going to the 2011 Civil War Series Champion alone. Currently, Forsberg is the driver closest to that outstanding bounty as he has more wins than any other driver in the campaign had maintains the series point lead.

In qualifying on Saturday, two time series Champion Sean Becker of Roseville took home the fastest lap of the night with a 15:940 second lap. Becker was the only driver on the roster to post a circuit in the 15 second bracket. Mason Moore of Princeton was second quick with a 16:024 followed by Shawn Wright off Fresno with a 16:082. The top five was rounded out by Roseville's Trent Canales with a 16:283 and Colby Wiesz of Colfax with a 16:105.

In preliminary action, Cody Lamar of Rio Linda edged Becker for the win in the opening heat race of the night. Heat race number two saw Brad Bumgarner of Chico take the win over Jeremy Burt of Grass Valley. Steven Tiner of Visalia edged Kyle Hirst of Sacramento for the victory in heat race three while Pope Valley's Jeff Parady lead Penngrove's Alissa Geving across the line in the fourth heat race of the night.

In the 12-lap B feature. Wright started on the outside of the front row and overtook pole sitter Becker to drive to the eventual victory. Wright was trailed across the line by Becker, Canales, who started third and sixth place starter Nicole Miller of Elk Grove. Jimmy Steward of Colfax and Jim Richardsen of Graeagle rounded out the six final transfers into the 30-lap A Feature.

A total of 22 cars packed the 3/8 mile oval for the 30-lap A feature to an excited American Valley Speedway crowd that packed the grandstands. The opening lap saw a multi car collision that involved Wright, Becker, Robbie Whitchurch of Chico, Miller and Canales. Once the incident was cleared the green flag waved to pole sitter Forsberg who never looked back for the 29 laps that followed.

As Forsberg drove into the lead en route to his third win of the year, Colby Wiesz of Colfax motored by from the third place starting position to chase the five time champ into the waning laps. At the checkered flag Forsberg was trailed by Wiesz, Brett Rollag of Rohnert Park who started second. Moore maintained his fourth place starting position for the entire run while Herman Klein of Sacramento powered his way from tenth into fifth.

Following Saturday's event, Forsberg now leads the Civil War standings with a seven point advantage over Klein. Tiner is third in the standings followed by Becker. Geving rounds out the top five entering round seven with a 34-point margin between first and fifth.

The Civil War Series will now travel back to Placerville Speedway on Saturday, July 2. This event will be like never before as it features the most competitive sprint car series in action combined with the annual Fourth of July Fireworks and Fairgrounds Blast Party.
